We are delighted to share that Ekaterina Panikanova will take part in the group show VANITAS OF METAMODERN at Nadya Kotova-Maesen Gallery in Antwerp.
"Plato once said: ’Immortal souls are enclosed in mortal bodies’. The exhibition Vanitas of Metamodern features the works of thee artists: François Réau, Corine Borgnet and Ekaterina Panikanova. François Réau (b.1978, based in Paris) extends life contemplation by using the principle of the appearance and disappearance of the figure and the motifs, at the very heart of the mate- rials while pushing the limits of the drawing and projecting it into space. Corine Borgnet (b.1965, based in Paris) borrows her symbolism from the world of tattooing and works on the traditional, popular motif. It is above all vanities that she exhibits, objects of power and seduction: a crown, a tiara, a corset. Ekaterina Panikanova (b.1975, based in Rome) creates densely layered paintings across large spreads of old books and other documents, resulting in artwork that blurs the lines between painting, installation and collage".
