MARTA ROBERTI | AL LUPO! AL LUPO!

We are happy to share with you the new residence of Anna and Marta Roberti AL LUPO! AL LUPO!, in the Municipality of Borgo Pace. It will be presented on Friday 23 August at 5:30 pm at the Golf Club - Alpe della Luna. The residence is part of Blu: il colore della cuccagna”, the widespread project of Pesaro 2024 - Italian Capital of Culture implemented by Casa Sponge.

 

The collaboration between the two sisters Anna and Marta Roberti could not fail to happen in a project for Borgo Pace, the Municipality that hosts the Museum of Natural Colors of Lamoli. This is the second opportunity that the two artists have had to create a work together; the first time was always in the Marche Region, inside a laboratory at the Ermanno Casoli Foundation in Fabriano. The duo created a cartoon that the children colored with walnut husk.

 

Now the combinations of Anna's imaginations and alchemical wisdom move on the path of the ford to give life to a new participatory project with the local community.

The theme of the path that presents itself as an active journey is The wolf. An animal present in the areas of Borgo Pace, as also attested by the name of the locality of Poggio del Lupo. The title refers to the widespread alarmism towards some species of wild animals including the wolf, which seems to be invading the countryside and mountains of various Italian regions.

As stated by the CRAS (Wild Animal Recovery Center) of the Marche, this apprehension towards the wolf fuels "a climate of fear and social alarm against a species that, despite being modestly recovering, is still in a precarious state of conservation".

 

The work that will be created will be the drawing of a large wolf with the color of woad on a linen fabric. During the workshop, sheets of carbon paper (like that of typewriters) will be created using natural indigo from woad (Isatis tinctoria L.) with linseed oil. These will be used to create drawings with the tracing technique. In tailoring, it is common to trace drawings onto fabrics with a special graphite carbon paper. Marta Roberti has created an evolution of this technique by creating carbon papers colored with oil pastels. On the occasion of this residency, Anna Roberti has further evolved the process by creating oil color with woad to create completely natural carbon papers. The size of the final work will be defined based on the number of participants. Each of them will create a part of the drawing by tracing a part of the wolf.
