MARTA ROBERTI | RIVELAZIONI

curated by Morgane Lucquet Laforgue | Museo di Sant'Orsola, Florence
We are proud to announce the partecipation of Marta Roberti in the third edition of Mostre in fase di cantiere. Specifically she will take part in a two-person show with Juliette Minchin entitled Rivelazioni at the Museo di Sant'Orsola in Florence.

RIVELAZIONI, THE SECOND EXHIBITION OF THE FUTURE MUSEUM
Museo Sant'Orsola is located in the historical quarter of San Lorenzo in Florence, in a part of the former convent of the same name that is currently being redeveloped. In anticipation of the official opening scheduled for 2026, Museo Sant'Orsola is organising a series of exhibitions invading the spaces of the building site and inviting contemporary artists to bring their gaze to the monument and its history. These exhibitions herald the unique direction that this new Florentine cultural reality will take, conceived as a crossroads between a historical, archaeological and fine arts museum and a contemporary art centre with its own collection of 21st century works.
For Rivelazioni, the second exhibition of the museum ‘under construction’, artists Juliette Minchin and Marta Roberti were invited to turn their personal gaze on the historical monument and create site-specific artworks. Each of the artists chose two different spaces on the construction site.
Juliette Minchin worked in the former apothecary's shop and the so-called ‘external’ church, which was once open to non-conventuals for some religious ceremonies. Marta Roberti, on the other hand, worked in part of the cellars under the former infirmary and in the ‘inner’ church, which was reserved exclusively for nuns.
Inspired by the stories of saints that circulated within the convent walls, Marta Roberti conceived Aure: a series of immense and delicate drawings that cover the church of Sant'Orsola and seem to emerge on the surface like hidden frescoes.
Her works overturn traditional religious iconography and explore the relationship between the divine, the feminine and the animal. The artist develops her own personal, visionary version of a monastic cell: the exhibition space is transformed into a meditative place and the viewer is invited to explore different worlds in which there are no longer any boundaries or distinctions between
living beings.
Marta's reflection continues in the basement of Sant’Orsola, where a selection of drawings engraved on graphite paper, which strike us like luminous epiphanies, are brought together.
The exhibition curated by Morgane Lucquet Laforgue, Curator and Director of the Museo Sant'Orsola.
